In july 2012, we walked about two weeks and 140 miles, from Susa (Turino) to Limone (Piemonte) on the GTA.
The GTA took us from valley to valley, passing by (abandoned) hamlets, which are mostly connected by old mule-trails. It's an absolutely gorgeous trail, and worthwhile to get yourself informed about the history of the trail.
The trail is relatively easy to hike, though quite some work since you climb and descend a mountain almost every day. There are a lot of (fresh) water resources on the trail, which makes the hike more comfortable.
